4.6.15
Christ + I
I tell Him, "I hurt."
He says, "I know."
I say, "It's so hard."
He says, "Rest your heart by mine, dearest."
I fall and fail, and yet is it He who shoulders the heavy burden of sin and shame, stumbling through the narrow streets of Jerusalem, falling for me; His back is the one that is torn and swollen and bleeding through with the stripes from the whips; His hands, not mine, are pierced through, yet they ache to hold me and comfort me; His heart, the heart which so loves men, is the one that loves me when I cannot love Him.
I cry, and He weeps with me.
I say, "I'm so happy."
He says, "I know."
I say, "Lord, You have made a beautiful world."
He says, "I made it for you."
I revel in the glory of God.
He smiles, and joins in my laughter.
I rejoice, and He rejoices with me.
